ProsperIran.com (“we”, “us”, “the platform”) is an independent, non-commercial community initiative. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used. By using the platform, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in two ways: information you provide directly, and information collected automatically when you use the platform.
Information you provide
- If you sign in with Google or Twitter/X, we receive your public profile information (name, email address, and profile picture) from that provider.
- Ideas and policy proposals you submit to the platform, including titles, descriptions, and any text you write.
Information collected automatically
- Cookies and local storage: We use cookies and similar browser storage mechanisms to maintain your session and preferences across visits.
- Platform security data: To protect the integrity of voting and prevent manipulation, we collect and store certain technical signals from your browser and device. The nature of these signals is not disclosed publicly to preserve the effectiveness of our security measures.
- Usage analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the platform (pages visited, time spent, general geographic region). This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
2. Why We Collect This Information
- Account authentication: To allow you to sign in and submit ideas on your behalf.
- Platform integrity: To detect and prevent vote manipulation and coordinated abuse, ensuring that participation on the platform is fair and authentic.
- Platform improvement: To understand which features are used and how the platform can be made better.
- Content storage: To display the policy ideas you and others have submitted.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your data with third parties except as described in this policy.
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services which may process your data under their own privacy policies:
Google Analytics
Aggregate usage statistics. Google may set cookies and receive information about pages you visit.
Google OAuth
Authentication for users who sign in with Google. Google receives information about the sign-in event.
Twitter/X OAuth
Authentication for users who sign in with Twitter/X.
Supabase
Our database and backend service provider, used to store user accounts, submitted ideas, and votes. Data is stored on servers in the EU.
OpenAI
When you submit an idea, the text is sent to OpenAI to generate a semantic representation used to detect duplicate submissions. OpenAI does not use your data to train its models under API usage terms.
Vercel
Our hosting provider. Vercel may process request metadata (such as IP addresses) in the course of serving the platform.
4. Data Retention
- Account information (name, email) is retained for as long as your account exists.
- Submitted ideas are retained indefinitely as part of the public policy library, even if you delete your account (they will be anonymised).
- Voting records and security data are retained to maintain the integrity of the vote history.
- Analytics data is retained by Google according to their own retention policies.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
- Withdraw consent at any time (noting that this may prevent you from using the platform).
To exercise any of these rights, clear your browser data and cease using the platform. For account deletion requests, sign in and remove your account from your profile settings if available.
6. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, and analytics. By accepting our Privacy & Cookie Notice, you consent to this use. If you decline, you will not be able to use the platform, as these technologies are integral to its operation.
You can also manage cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect site functionality.
7. Children
ProsperIran is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
